Purpose Statement

As a blind entrepreneur, I move people to discover their vision beyond what they can physically see. I help my clients who are ready to level up and lead with resilience do so with courage and determination.

As a clinical mental health counselor and certified life coach, I have collaborated with many clients who have lost all their ability to dream big and use their imagination to propel them into their success because they are only focused on what they can see.

This message is very personal because at one time in my life I, too, lost my ability to dream. As a survivor of childhood trauma, domestic abuse and suicide, surviving would use up all my mental and emotional resources, stunting any dreams I might have had. Further limiting my view of a bright future was my diagnosis of Retinitis Pigmentosa, the disease that would eventually leave me blind.  This would be the final blow to the possibility of fulfilling any of my dreams. The adversity would peak with the ending of my marriage which would thrust me into a journey of self-discovery and resilience and all after completely losing my sight.

I had to dig deep and push through all the limiting voices and disregard what my circumstances were trying to dictate to me. Instead, I would earn my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology and clinical mental health counseling, become a certified life coach, and start two businesses.

One of the greatest rewards of reclaiming my life was becoming an adjunct professor at Pillar College, my undergraduate alma mater, where I teach in the Psychology and Counseling Department.

Embracing Vision Beyond Sight; Leading with Resilience

This talk will provide a blueprint for the listener to identify their blindspots, what they believe, how these beliefs  affect their ability to overcome life’s challenges, and what it takes to take the lead in their lives and claim their success. From the corporate executive to the server in your favorite restaurant, my story will help them to take their blinders off so that they can chart  a clear path to seeing their vision come to life. My talk is birthed directly from my lived experience and supported by my years of study of human behavior. Additionally, this talk aligns with my core value of moving marginalized people from hanging out on the outskirts of their lives to being fully immersed in pursuing and achieving their dreams.

Choose life

This is a motivational talk that uses the topic of suicide to generate hope for those struggling with life’s stressors. This unique talk takes the incredibly challenging discussion of suicidality and helps the listener to better understand the process and learn to interrupt the thought patterns themselves. It will highlight suicide prevention as an achievable goal, lifting a motivating both the suicidal person and their support community to pursue a suicide free existence.

Some Featured Topics

Becoming Extraordinary

This talk will challenge the listener who is aware of their potential and purpose but limits their reach because they gauge their success by comparing themselves to others. While it is important to have mentors and others one aspires to, it is not enough to sit at the feet of another, gleaning all you can from them, then never stepping fully into your own greatness. This talk will challenge the listener to identify their own self-deprecating beliefs about exceeding expectations and rising to the place they are destined to be and stake a claim to their own identity so they can allow themselves to become extraordinary.

Jesus, the Greatest Psychologist

This talk will help the listener to bridge their knowledge of mental health with the principles outlined in the Biblical scriptures. This talk is designed to assist the person struggling to reconcile concepts of faith with what they know about mental health. The listener will find hope in looking at their mental health through a biblical world view, concluding that one is not exclusive of the other and God is deeply invested in the well-being of his creation.

Breaking Legacies of Trauma

This talk takes a deep dive into the impact of trauma on our families intergenerationally. We will explore how unresolved trauma creates cycles of maladaptive behavior that is often perpetuated from generation to generation. This talk will also include ideas of how to interrupt these negatively impacting cycles of behavior so that the listener can be hopeful for themselves and their children by feeling better equipped to confront and resolve their traumatic pasts and create bright and successful futures.
